Optimal path control in mixed flow traffic network
In the hybrid network of automatic vehicles and conventional vehicles, we can achieve the system optimum (SO) by controlling the path selection of a portion of cooperative AVs (CAVs). In this study, by solving linear programming, we can get the minimum control ratio (MCR) of CAVs to achieve SO. Furthermore, by combining the control of CAVs with the pricing of conventional vehicles, we can greatly reduce MCR, or even reduce MCR with little tolling. This study reveals the huge social benefits produced by the combination of economic and technical ways of traffic control. The study was conducted by THU-LEAD in collaboration with Professor Yin Yafeng's team from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
